Maldives looming!!!

We have less than two weeks til I'm off to the Maldives for the 6* Prime Sri Lankin Airlines Pro WQS event. And pretty much once that event starts, we'll have an event almost every week until the beginning of September, so I'd better make sure I have the right boards and the right attitude for these next three months....which I do!

I really am looking forward to getting over there and competing again, build on the momentum from the last event in Scotland and get some more counting results....had a really good week of training, surf was pretty shit here in Durban, been pretty dismal since I've been back from Scotland, but it's good to surf crap waves cause when you do finally get some good one's, you appreciate it that much more.

I'm also really excited as I have my daughter's christening this weekend, should be an amazing day!!! Can't believe how time flies these days. ANd also we have the Natal Sharks playing in the Super 14 Semi finals against the Waratahs from NSW, sure it'll be an awesome game and my money's on the Sharks!!!!!

Well guys, enjoy your weekend, have fun and never have regrets!!!

Here I am with my wife, Jayde, and fellow pro surfers, Devon Mathais, Greg Emslie and Simon Nicholson as well as good friends Robo, Grog Pearson and Cottie at the Absa Stadium last night for the Shark's thrashing of the Chiefs!!! What an inspirational game!!!! Hope they smash the Waratahs in Sydney next weekend!

9th at Lizzard

Never had the best contest this weekend with a 9th place finish in the 1* Lizzard Nando's WQS held at North Beach, Durban. I wanted to use this event as a warm up for the 6* Prime QS at Maldives in the beginning of June but I only ended up surfing two heats. I learnt something pretty valuable from this event so hopefully I can use that to my advantage in my upcoming comps.

I've got about two and a half weeks left in SA before I'm off again so it's time to train, get prepared and ready for the next onslaught.

Also a new concept I've joined which is pretty cool is this website called www.myfamousnames.com where you log on and each week the subscriber is sent an mms with a few lines attached of what their chosen celebrity/sportsperson is up to, what they've achieved, where they off to next etc, so go check it out, quite a few very high profile SA sports celebs and personalities have signed up to this, worth a look!

Any ways, keep it real, catch up with you guys soon, post a comment or two to let me know if there's anything else you want me to post on here, any ideas, tips etc always like hearing what you have to say!!!

Chad on his way to 1st place at the Billabong u20 Pro Junior event at Cape Town..Nice work Chad and keep ripping!!!!

Bilt Dominate Billabong Junior Series

Chad du Toit and Beyrick de Vries have taken out the u20 and u16 divisions respectively at the Billabong Junior Series event held in Cape Town. Chad left Rudy Palmboom in a combo situation at the end of their final and Beyrick dominated his division from the beginning. Big ups boys on a fine result!!!

The Lizzard Nando's Pro 1* WQS event starts this thursday running through til Sunday the 18th May at North Beach, Durban. With it being a 1* event, it won't help towards our qualifying bid for 2009 but it does help keep you on top of your toes and can be a good pay day. The competition will be stiff will all our top SA pro's surfing except for our 4 WCT campaigners, so you know you'll be seeing some top surfing go down. Will keep you posted on how it goes!!

A week of training!

It's been a week of training now after the three 6* Prime events in a row and I tell you what, it's hard getting back into it. But it feels great to be working hard again. My legs have been feeling it too!!! My new trainer has a pretty awesome training schedule for me and it really does feel like its working.

The surf on the other hand has been terrible here in Durban, aroundthe dead flat to 1ft mark, pretty scary stuff considering we are in the best month of surf supposedly for KZN for the year. But there is a swell expected for Tuesday so hopefully we start to see some action again.
What's also not cool at all is that the French embassy have started making applicants for a Schengen visa now go for an interview in Pretoria before you can get a visa, so it looks like I'll be having to do a day trip up to JHB, not stoked at all! And the Japanese are doing the same, might try kill two birds with one stone and hit both the embassies in two days....see what happens!
I've included a photo from the Quik pro, of the P3 , these boys are like my brothers!!!
Cheers and catch you on the rebound
